Excessive sweating – How to avoid it?

Every person sweats on one or the other body parts. It’s normal, but excessive sweating can make one feel embarrassed, and foul odor can be a big turn-off in society. Sweating is the cooling system of our body. It’s inevitable to avoid it. How to avoid excessive sweating? When the sweat evaporates, the body feels a cooling sensation, and the body temperature goes down.

Everybody has their sweating system. Some sweat less while others more. It can become bothersome, so we often try to find ways to sweat as little as possible.

Here are a few ways to reduce sweating

Keep hydrated

Water is the best way to keep your body cool, lessening the sweat one releases. As the temperature rises in the environment, our body needs more water to be hydrated. Therefore, do try drinking at least eight glasses of water a day.

Otherwise, you can calculate the ideal water content needed by your body. Divide your weight (in pounds) in half. This is the right amount of water your body needs.

Avoide Excessive Sweating

Using antiperspirants can help

An antiperspirant helps in blocking your sweat glands. They contain components like zinc and aluminum. These metals block the pores from sweat release. They are like oral medicines for the body that works for almost a day. Therefore, applying them in advance is suggested.

How to use antiperspirants – They should be applied on sweaty areas when the skin is dry. The antiperspirants contain salts that block your sweat ducts and prevent sweat from escaping.

It’s better to use them on the body a night before for the best results. It’s also advisable to shave the hair of armpits and other body parts that sweat a lot for the antiperspirant to work best.

Avoid heavy and woolen clothes

The clothes one wears also make a lot of difference. Heavy clothing makes one sweat more. While if the fabric of your clothes is light or cottony, this makes you sweat less. It’s best to avoid fabrics like nylon, rayon, or silk in summer and humid environments.

Also, the color and fit of the clothes matter. A bright color or light color cloth doesn’t make one sweat more because such colors do not absorb the sunlight. The fitted your clothes are, the less the body gets to breathe.

Avoid certain food types

The food you consume daily is directly related to how much you sweat. You are likely to sweat more if you eat too much spicy food with pepper, red or green chili, or items like jalapenos. Spicy food increases the heart rate, which increases the internal body temperature and causes you to sweat.

Fatty and processed food also require extra work by the body for processing and can cause more sweating. Similarly, eating excess salt is also a source of excessive sweating. The sweat contains elements like salt, sugar, and other body secrets. If one consumes more salt, they are likely to release it through more sweating.

Also, one should avoid caffeine and alcohol as they increase heart rate and make one sweat. On the other hand, consuming fruits and vegetables having more water content can help one maintain the body temperature and keep it hydrated.

Maintaining room temperature

It’s best to maintain a cool temperature at home or office place at all times to avoid sweating. You can do this through a fan, air conditioner, windows, etc.

If you are out in the open, try to avoid direct sunlight by finding shade.
